Cast-away!

Finally the day we've been waiting for! We took Michael to the doctor this morning for his cast removal. When he wakened this morning, I asked him if he remembered where we were going. He joyfully exclaimed, "DOCTOR!" He was all smiles as the doctor removed the cast.

Waiting in the exam room for Dr. Cutcliffe.

Cutting the cast away.

Almost off!

At last!

(The black marks on his shin are my initials, which I had to put on him before the cast application to identify which leg was broken.) You can tell by this picture how skinny his little legs have become from loss of muscle mass.

The empty cast

Dr. Cutcliffe showing lil J, Michael's new x-ray of the healed bone.

Dr. Cutcliffe said it may take a week or two for Michael to begin walking. He said that his leg will be very tender and he will walk with a limp for at least a month. Regardless, this is the happiest day of his Mommy's life since the day he was born! Lil J is also ecstatic that Michael is going to be able to play and jump with him again.
