Chicago Getaway

Yesterday, Jonathan had a training conference in Chicago. At the last minute on Tuesday night, he decided that he wanted to take me with. So, we got on Priceline.com and found a cheap room downtown. So, I quickly packed, took the boys up to grammy's and we left early the next morning for Chicago. After the conference ended, we drove downtown and checked into the hotel.

Then we walked down to Millennium Park and enjoyed the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra in concert!
For dinner, we went my favorite restaurant, PF Chang's China Bistro and had my all time favorites...Chicken Noodle Soup and Shrimp Lo Mein.

This morning we walked and walked and walked all over Chicago. We started in Grant Park and Millennium Park enjoying the beautiful flower gardens.

We also came across some "Art on the Farm" in Grant Park. We were totally inspired by the beauty and creativity displayed in the planting of vegetables!

Everything in the gardens was edible...including the nasturtium and marigolds (pictured below). We talked with one of the garden caretakers and she gave us a nasturtium leaf and blossom to eat. It was very good and had a peppery taste. I planted some nasturtium in our garden at home this summer and so I think I'll have to try adding it to adding it to some recipes!

My strong hunk of a husband. :-)

We pretty much walked our legs off from Millennium Park to five floors of The Mart to window shopping up on State Street to walking along the lakeshore and beach. We were absolutely exhausted by the end of the day and my feet were about numb. We had such a nice time being together and just relaxing.
