Windy City Weekend

This past weekend Jonathan and I spent the weekend in downtown Chicago with our friends Chris and April. We had a blast from the moment we left South Bend. I don't remember the last time we laughed so much. Thanks Chris and April for a terrific weekend! You both are such a blessing and we had a great time with you both.

We began our trip with a stop at the Merchandise Mart on the Chicago River. Then we checked into our hotel (the Park Hyatt) for a relaxing nap. For dinner we walked to PF Chang's China Bistro (my
personal favorite).
After dinner we went to the Macy's at State St. for some shopping and then on to the Christkindlmarket. (http://www.christkindlmarket.com/)
To say it was a freezing walk on our way back to the hotel after dinner would be a gross understatement. We were walking very fast and Chris and April were doing their best to keep up!

It was so cold that we stepped inside a Walgreens to warm up and found these Obama hats...you know we were tired and our brains half frozen to actually put them on!

Before we went back to the hotel, we walked to the base of the John Hancock Bldg to the Cheesecake Factory for takeout cheesecake. We also stopped briefly for pics by the Hancock Christmas tree.

The Christmas lights were beautiful near the watertower.

After returning to our room, we enjoyed eating our cheesecake together in the window seat from the 14th floor of our hotel room (which overlooks the watertower and Michigan Avenue).
We talked and laughed until nearly 2am. There were some very "musical" moments as we made up our own pitches and tunes on the crystal stemware in the room.
